THIS RESTLESS MIND
Where
would you travel
Oh restless mind,
Would you wander afar or nearby?
To warm sunny climate,
Where sea laps the shore line of sand,
With an endless blue sky?
Would you travel to mountains,
With tall, snow-capped peaks,
Where you found such delight, long ago?
With such bright coloured flowers
High on a hillside
With villages nestled below?
Maybe our own woodlands,
Beside green meadows,
You always find great comfort there,
Midst the trees with their branches
Just teeming with wildlife,
It's so restful, away from all care;
I know well, restless mind,
All these places you'll visit,
Never lingering for long
And I know
Even though you love gazing
At all nature's beauty,
The place you will finally go,
So wend your way onwards
My restless mind,
Not to woodlands, or mountains,
Or sea,
But to where there is someone
Who is loved very dearly,
That's where all restless minds
Long to be.
