God never promised
Our life would be easy
Free from all pain,
Heart ache and misery.

He never promised
Joy and happiness
Without some sorrow,
Stress and sadness.
But what he did say
Please have faith in me.

For I’ll light up your darkness
And help you to see.
That all is not lost
When the going gets tough.
With my help you can take
The smooth with the rough.

Have faith in me
And I’ll be a lifelong friend.
For I will help
And guide you to your journey’s end.
