BECOME A POET
In the realm of poetry, let me weave,
A tapestry of words that will relieve,
The weight of life, the burdens we bear,
Embrace the poet's spirit, if you dare.
First, heed my words, don't embark on this quest,
For poetry's path is not like the rest,
Yet if your heart insists, then I'll reveal,
The secrets of the poet's sacred seal.
Don't be discouraged, that's rule number one,
For poetry's journey has just begun,
Unleash your thoughts, let inhibitions fall,
Embrace the strange, the quirky, one and all.
Read and write, immerse yourself in the verse,
Expand your horizons, let knowledge disperse,
Be a linguist of sorts, explore different tongues,
Though not a requirement, it adds to the throngs.
Engage with yourself, the audience too,
Speak to the trees, the bees, and skies of blue,
Create metaphors and similes unplanned,
Let your words dance, like grains of golden sand.
Your ex may stir emotions deep inside,
But choose your subjects wisely, don't let them collide,
Write lists, jot down ideas that come to mind,
Organize your thoughts, leave no point behind.
Now, let's proceed, to the clever and bold,
With characters vibrant, their tales untold,
Fear not the profane, embrace words that sting,
But use them with purpose, let meaning take wing.
Moonlight cascades, a muse in the night,
But be cautious, don't cause a stranger's fright,
Repetition, a tool, like waves on the shore,
Creating a rhythm, resonating core.
But in the end, my dear poet, let go,
Defy my guidance, explore and bestow,
Upon the world your unique artistry,
For only in freedom, true poetry shall be.
And when the laughter fades, let silence befall,
For sometimes, humor escapes us all,
Don't be disheartened, don't deem it a loss,
In your failures, you'll find, a poet's true gloss.
Know when to cease, to bid your verse adieu,
For every poem has its moment, it's true,
In these words, my guide ends, a poet's delight,
Now, go forth and weave your own poems, in flight.
