THE FIRST DAY
I wish I could remember that first day,
When fate conspired to bring us on our way,
If sun or snowflakes danced in wild ballet,
Or if the world was painted shades of gray.
Unnoticed, time did swiftly slip astray,
Blind to the future, lost in the melee,
Unmindful of the seeds of love at bay,
Yet to bloom like flowers in the month of May.
Oh, if I could but recollect, oh such
A day of days, where dreams were born, a clutch
Of moments, like the morning's gentle hush,
It meant so little, but it meant so much.
If I could just recall that tender touch,
The first embrace, love's flame, the magic's touch.
